if you call us immediately

we can catch (some) swarms

PHONE 0425 396 432

The swarm season on the Sunshine Coast is long, from September through March. Successfully colonising swarms is a gamble so we only try to catch easily accessable swarms (usually suspended from low hanging branches like those in the photos below).

If you see a low hanging swarm, please call us IMMEDIATELY to give us the best opportunity to catch it before it flies off, possibly into the wall or roof of your home (where they can't easily be removed). They can do this at any moment.

WE DO NOT remove bees from inside a building or a tree. Removing them creates a golden opportunity for pests and diseases to run riot, and the bees resent being moved on.

Noosa, 2015

Swarming is the way that honeybee colonies naturally reproduce. A swarm is a new colony that has split off a parent colony.

Cooroy, 2016

There are many different triggers that initiate a swarm. The swarm generally contains thousands of worker bees, a queen, and some drones.

Noosaville, 2015

Swarms can leave taking up to 40% of the parent colony. After a day or two the bees will usually make their new home.
